Philip Romano

Philip Romano is a Founder and General Partner of each SHD fund. In addition, Mr. Romano is an investor, entrepreneur, artist and internationally renowned restaurateur. Mr. Romano has been an active venture capital investor for over 20 years concentrating on healthcare-related industries. Mr. Romano was the sole outside investor and business executive of the company responsible for inventing the Palmaz® stent, which was named one of the "10 Patents that Changed the World" by IP Worldwide in 2002. The stent market grew from non-existent to an over $8 billion industry. Mr. Romano has also been named to the Texas Business Hall of Fame. In addition, he and Dr. Palmaz formed another company resulting in a successful licensing transaction with Johnson & Johnson.

Stuart Fitts

Stuart Fitts is a Founder and General Partner of each SHD fund. Mr. Fitts previously owned EGF Broadcast Corporation and Gulf California Broadcast Company, which owned and operated radio and television properties in Palm Springs, California. Mr. Fitts sold the companies to News-Press & Gazette Company in St. Joseph, Missouri. Since the sale, Mr. Fitts has been the Managing Partner of Fitts Investment Company, a Dallas based privately held investment firm. Mr. Fitts received his B.A. in English from Southern Methodist University and his M.B.A. from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. He has served on the board of Presbyterian Health Resources, which oversees the Presbyterian operations under the Texas Health Resources umbrella, in addition to the Texas Diabetes Council.

Andrew Offer, CFA

Andrew Offer joined SHD in 2007 and is the Chief Executive Officer of SHD. Mr. Offer also serves on the board of directors for most SHD portfolio companies, in addition to historically acting in the capacity of Chief Financial Officer for multiple portfolio companies. Prior to joining SHD, he was a senior analyst and associate at Dallas-based Value Management Group (VMG Health), where he focused on business valuation exclusively in the healthcare industry. Mr. Offer graduated Magna Cum Laude with multiple honors distinctions earning a B.B.A. in Finance from the Mays School of Business at Texas A&M University. In addition, Mr. Offer earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2009 and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Dallas-Fort Worth.

R. Michael Schotzinger, PhD

Mike joined SHD in 2021 as an Associate. Prior to SHD, Mike garnered VC experience as a venture manager for Cone Health, a market research consultant for Catalyst Health Ventures, and as a fellow at Hatteras Venture Partners. Mike has performed extensive due diligence on early-stage medical devices and diagnostics. Mike earned his PhD in biomedical engineering at the University of North Carolina under the direction of serial entrepreneur Mike Ramsey. His dissertation work on nanofluidics and DNA physics is published in ACS-Macromolecules. Mike brings a deep understanding of medical devices, diagnostics, and scientific research to the SHD team.
