Philip Romano

Philip Romano is a Founder and General Partner of SHD, SHD II and SHD III. In addition, Mr. Romano is an investor, entrepreneur, artist and internationally renowned restaurateur. Mr. Romano has been an active venture capital investor for over 20 years concentrating on healthcare-related industries. Mr. Romano was the sole outside investor and business executive of the company responsible for inventing the Palmaz® stent, which was named one of the "10 Patents that Changed the World" by IP Worldwide in 2002. The stent market grew from non-existent to an over $8 billion industry. Mr. Romano has also been named to the Texas Business Hall of Fame. In addition, he and Dr. Palmaz formed another company resulting in a successful licensing transaction with Johnson & Johnson.

Stuart Fitts

Stuart Fitts is a Founder and General Partner of SHD, SHD II and SHD III. Mr. Fitts previously owned EGF Broadcast Corporation and Gulf California Broadcast Company, which owned and operated radio and television properties in Palm Springs, California. Mr. Fitts sold the companies to News-Press & Gazette Company in St. Joseph, Missouri. Since the sale, Mr. Fitts has been the Managing Partner of Fitts Investment Company, a Dallas based privately held investment firm. Mr. Fitts received his B.A. in English from Southern Methodist University and his M.B.A. from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University. He currently serves on the board of Presbyterian Health Resources, which oversees the Presbyterian operations under the Texas Health Resources umbrella.

Carter Meyer

Carter Meyer has been the Chief Executive Officer of SHD since its formation in February 2006, and is a General Partner of SHD II and SHD III. Prior to joining SHD, he was an attorney in private practice for over 12 years, most recently with the Dallas office of the Vinson & Elkins L.L.P. As an attorney, Mr. Meyer focused on commercial transactions with substantial experience buying, selling, financing and making investments in both public and private entities. Mr. Meyer has a B.B.A. in finance from Texas Christian University and a J.D. from St. Mary's University School of Law. Mr. Meyer is a director of all SHD portfolio companies.

Andrew Offer, CFA

Andrew Offer joined SHD in 2007 and is a Managing Director and the Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Offer also serves as the Chief Financial Officer for multiple portfolio companies in addition to serving as a director of MiNDERA. Prior to joining SHD, he was a senior analyst and associate at Dallas-based Value Management Group (VMG Health), where he focused on business valuation exclusively in the healthcare industry. Mr. Offer graduated Magna Cum Laude with multiple honors distinctions earning a B.B.A. in Finance from the Mays School of Business at Texas A&M University. In addition, Mr. Offer earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation in 2009 and is a member of the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Dallas-Fort Worth.
